Messy Church
for March 2018

The March Messy Church was the day before Mothering Sunday so we made presents for mothers, which included tissue paper flowers, cards and peppermint creams (that is when Messy Church lived up to its name!).  Our Bible story was Jesus feeding the five thousand and we thought about mums and dads feeding us.  We finished with a lunch of fish fingers and chips.

Messy Church
Saturday April 16th  the Bible story was about Jesus telling the disciples to fish on the opposite side of the boat and they caught  an enormous number of fish, even though they had been fishing all night and caught nothing. At first, they hadn’t recognised Jesus on the shore – this was one of the occasions when they saw him after he had come alive again after being crucified. Jesus spoke to the disciple Peter and asked him three times to feed my sheep (the sheep being people who needed to know about Jesus being God’s son). We made sheep and coloured in fish and ended with a lunch of fish and chips.
Next Messy Church will be on Saturday May 14th in Church from 10 am to 12 noon. Why not come along and join in the fun.

   Messy Church

        Saturday March 12th 2016

We had a lively messy church session this Saturday    with 16 children and 10 adults attending.

Our theme was new life and  we he ard the Easter story from Gudrun.

We planted cress in egg boxes to take home, made Easter cards with cross book marks and used spices mixed with water to paint pictures. The spices represented the  spices the ladies took to the tomb to anoint Jesus' body.

We finished by sharing an Easter breakfast of sausage sandwiches and chocolate eggs.

The next Messy Church will be held on Saturday April 16th from 10-00am to 12 noon.

Messy Church
                   Saturday February 13th 2016,

The theme for Messy Church was The Last Supper which Jesus had with his disciples to celebrate The Passover just before he was put to death on the cross.
The children started by colouring in pictures of the Last Supper before Gudrun told them the story of what happened and how Jesus broke the bread and passed it round and then the cup of wine, and told them to do it in future to remember him.  Jesus then said that someone was going to betray him.
Sarah had brought along vegetables which were cut up to make some soup.  Two of the tables were then covered with paper and were drawn on to be our tablecloths.  The younger children helped Brenda to make some dough with wholemeal flour, salt and water.  This was cooked in a frying pan to make flat bread (bread with no yeast - which was part of the Passover meal).
Gudrun showed a video and had a short Service, after which it was time to eat the soup, with the flat bread and have a drink of red squash.  The soup was lovely and even the flat bread was quite good!  So we had our Passover meal with bread and "wine".
16 children came along with parents/grandparents - so we were a good crowd.

Our next Messy Church will be on the 12th March.  All welcome.
